Terms & Conditions

Part A – Our Relationship with You

Who we are:
The Portuguese Association for the Development of Communications (hereinafter “APDC”, “we”, “us” and “our”) is a non-profit public utility association whose mission is the promotion, dissemination and development of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Media sector in Portugal.

APDC is incorporated under Portuguese law with registration number 501607749 and registered office at Av. João XXI, 78, R/C Esq., 1000-304 Lisboa, Portugal.

About the Online Event:
APDC provides access to a technology conference hosted in person and online that allows users to access talks, discussions, and networking opportunities streamed via the Internet at congresso.apdc.pt (the “Website”), taking place on 6 and 7 May 2026 (“Online Event”).

These Terms govern your use of our Services and participation in the Online Event. “Services” refers to all services provided by APDC in connection with the Online Event, including the Website, platform features, and related content.

Structure of the Terms: Your agreement with APDC includes:

By registering for the Online Event, you acknowledge and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not register or attend the Event.

Registering on behalf of someone else: If you register on behalf of another person, you must ensure they are aware of and agree to these Terms.

Part B – Terms of Use

1. Access and Participation
We reserve the right to refuse participation or remove access to any individual who disrupts the Event, poses a security risk, or fails to comply with these Terms.

2. Event Changes or Cancellation
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that Event programs, speakers, topics, platforms, formats, and dates are accurate at the time of publication. However, circumstances beyond our control may require substitutions, modifications, postponements, or cancellations relating to the content, format, themes, name, speakers, hosts, moderators, venue, timing, platform, or dates of the Event.

We reserve the right to make such changes at any time and will not be liable for any costs incurred as a result, including but not limited to travel and lodging expenses. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you as soon as practicable by posting updated information on the Website and/or contacting you via the email address provided at registration.

If the Event is rescheduled, your registration will automatically transfer to the new date. No refunds will be issued in the event of rescheduling. If the Event is canceled, our total liability will be limited to a refund of the registration fee you paid, less any credit card or payment processing fees.

3. Photography and Recording
By attending the Event and choosing to participate in recorded sessions, you acknowledge and agree that you grant APDC permission to capture, store, and use photographs, audio recordings, and video recordings that may include your image, voice, likeness, or contributions. You grant APDC and its authorized third parties a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, distribute, broadcast, edit, and otherwise disseminate such media in any format or medium now known or later developed, without further approval or compensation. This includes use before, during, and after the Event for documentation, promotional, educational, and archival purposes. If you do not consent to being recorded, you must inform the organizers in advance or refrain from participating in sessions where recording is taking place.

4. Accessibility Requirements
You must notify us of any special access requirements during registration.

5. Third-Party Links
The Online Event or Services may contain links to third-party websites, content, or services, including participant-uploaded materials such as videos, images, or external links. APDC does not control and is not responsible for any third-party websites or content and does not endorse or assume responsibility for any products, services, or information provided by third parties.

Access to such sites is at your own risk and subject to the terms and conditions of those third parties. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of third-party content and recommend reviewing their policies before engaging with them.

6. Personal Use
The Services are provided for personal use only and may not be shared outside your household. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license for personal access.

7. Technical Requirements
You are responsible for ensuring that you have a compatible device and a high-speed internet connection. Additional software may be required.

8. Platform Profiles
If you create a profile on the platform, certain information may be visible to other attendees.

9. Intellectual Property
All content and intellectual property associated with the Online Event are owned by or licensed to APDC. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or otherwise use Event content without prior written permission.

10. Acceptable Use
When accessing and using the Website and Services, you agree that you will not:

  • Violate any applicable law, statute, ordinance, or regulation;
  • Use the Services for unlawful purposes or in violation of applicable law;
  • Promote or engage in illegal activity, violence, or discrimination;
  • Upload, transmit, or distribute malicious software, including viruses, Trojan horses, worms, or similar harmful code;
  • Circumvent or interfere with the Website’s security features or permit others to use your account;
  • Interfere with the operation or availability of the Website, including through denial-of-service attacks;
  • Use automated means (including bots, scrapers, or crawlers) to access or collect data from the Website;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Website, servers, or connected systems;
  • Provide false or misleading information;
  • Interfere with other users’ access to or enjoyment of the Website;
  • Frame, mirror, or simulate the appearance or functionality of the Website;
  • Remove copyright or proprietary notices;
  • Record or broadcast the Online Event without authorization;
  • Post or share content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, harassing, threatening, offensive, or invasive of privacy;
  • Infringe upon the intellectual property or confidentiality rights of others;
  • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • Send unsolicited promotional communications (spam); or
  • Violate any other provision of these Terms.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Services if we determine that your conduct violates these Terms or poses a risk to the integrity or security of the Event or Website. You may not use the Website or platform to transmit illegal, harmful, abusive, or unauthorized content or data. Accounts in breach may be suspended.

11. User Contributions and Messages
By posting messages or content on the platform, you grant APDC a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to use, store, reproduce, and display your contributions in connection with the Event and related activities. You must not post unlawful, infringing, or otherwise inappropriate content.

12. Warranties Disclaimer
The Event and all related content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness of the content for any particular purpose.

13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Event or these Terms is limited to the amount you paid to attend the Event. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages.

14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless APDC from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising from your breach of these Terms or misuse of the Services.

15. Survival
Any provisions that by their nature should survive termination of this agreement will remain in effect.

16. Force Majeure
The Online Event and/or certain Services may be unavailable due to a Force Majeure event. For purposes of these Terms, Force Majeure means any unforeseeable and unavoidable event beyond a party’s reasonable control that temporarily or permanently prevents performance of its obligations.

Such events may include, without limitation: (a) power or server outages; (b) maintenance or updates; (c) war, armed conflict, civil unrest, or terrorism; (d) natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, or pandemics; (e) legal or governmental restrictions; (f) labor disputes; (g) failure of suppliers or telecommunications networks; or (h) any other cause beyond APDC’s reasonable control.

We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of interruptions resulting from Force Majeure. We will not be liable for delays, non-performance, cancellations, rescheduling, or limitations caused by such events. Where feasible, we may provide access at a later date or offer a reasonable alternative.

17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lisbon, Portugal.

We do not offer Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), including through the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform. Complaints may be submitted to congresso@apdc.pt.

Nothing in these Terms limits our right to initiate proceedings in another jurisdiction or to seek interim or injunctive relief in any competent court.

18. Final Terms
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and APDC and supersede all prior agreements or understandings. These Terms may not be assigned without our prior written consent. The English-language version is controlling.

Part C – Attendee Terms

Tickets and Pricing
Prices include applicable VAT. Payment must be completed in full prior to access. Tickets are personal and non-transferable. Requests for changes or reassignments must be submitted by email.

Refund and Cancellation Policy
Your ticket remains our property and constitutes a personal, revocable license. Access to the Online Event may be revoked at any time upon refund of the printed registration price.

If the Event is rescheduled, tickets will transfer to the new date. No refunds will be issued due to rescheduling.

If the Event is canceled by the Organizer, a full refund of the registration fee (less processing costs) will be issued. APDC is not responsible for additional expenses, including travel or lodging.

Right of Withdrawal
If you are entitled under applicable law to cancel your ticket purchase within 14 days without providing a reason, you must notify us in writing within 14 days of entering into the contract. Refunds will be issued using the original method of payment.

By purchasing a ticket and accessing the Online Event or its digital content, you acknowledge and agree that you waive any applicable right of withdrawal once digital content has been accessed.

Refunds will be processed within 30 days after receipt of a valid cancellation request. All requests must be submitted to eventos@apdc.pt.

Substitutions
You may designate a substitute at no additional cost by notifying us in advance via email. The substitute must satisfy the same ticket eligibility requirements.

Discounts and Verification
Certain discounts may require proof of eligibility. Misuse may result in additional charges or exclusion from the Event.

Part D – Additional Policies

Your use of the Website and Platform is also governed by the Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy.

Data Processing Consent
By registering, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal data by APDC for purposes related to organizing and managing the Event, including communications regarding registration, access, participation, and post-event follow-up.

Image Consent
By attending the in-person components of the Event, you consent to the capture and use of your image in photographs or videos taken by APDC or its authorized representatives for documentation, promotional, or institutional communication purposes.

For the Online Event, your image, name, or other identifiers will appear only if you voluntarily upload content (such as a profile image or written contributions) or share materials on the platform. You are responsible for any personal information you choose to share. APDC will not remotely activate participant cameras or microphones, and no participant audio or video will be recorded unless expressly disclosed and consented to.

Data Sharing with Partners
During registration, you will have the option to consent to sharing your data with selected partners. Your personal data will not be shared without your explicit consent.
